The Office of Human Resources is a critical component in managing the agency’s most valuable resources, our employees. As a gateway for thousands of current and prospective employees, the Office of Human Resources offers a variety of recruitment support functions, training and development opportunities. In addition, the Office of Human Resources is also the primary resource for payroll management, employment services, civil service support, and application processing and facilitating the onboarding process across 18 different divisions. The Office of Human Resources also works in partnership with ACS program areas and divisions to provide initiatives and services that nurture and develop an environment of employee empowerment, advocacy, and involvement in the organization while attracting and cultivating a diverse dynamic workforce.
The Office of Human Resources is seeking an energetic self-starter to serve as a Wellness Coordinator, reporting to the Special Advisor to the Deputy Commissioner of Human Resources. The Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for (1) the development and growth of wellness programming at ACS and (2) overseeing ACS’ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), ensuring group activities meet Agency standards and promotes the Agency’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion model. Responsibilities and duties include:
Employee Wellness – 80%
Develop and implement a comprehensive wellness program to promote employee health and wellness and improve morale
Lead and engage team of wellness ambassadors, who serve as wellness representatives across all Agency Divisions and locations
Collaborate with the NYC Office of Labor Relations/Workwell to create and facilitate Wellness programming
Interface with city agency counterparts to share and learn about best practices and represent ACS on professional panels
Design and develop educational and communication materials in collaboration with Marketing team including flyers, newsletters, all staff bulletins, intranet postings etc.
Create and disseminate monthly calendar of wellness activities and programs Agency wide
Build networks and cultivate relationships with community partners and provide a wide range of volunteer/paid wellness programming
Create and execute an annual wellness budget; carefully source and negotiate with vendors
Track agency wellness data providing reports to Senior Leadership on activities, attendance and employee engagement, identifying trends and creating action plans as needed
Employee Resource Groups – 20%
Oversee Agency Employee Resource Groups (ie African American Heritage Committee, ACS Choir, LGBTQ Pride Committee, etc.) ensuring groups adhere to the Agency’s ERG policy manual
Assist with event planning, liaising with Agency partners in Administration, External Affairs, Marketing and the Commissioner’s Office to problem solve and resolve issues
Review and vet ERG requests, including events, seminars, external speakers/vendors, flyers etc.
Create ERG annual budget and approve/facilitate requests for funding

Job-Specific Knowledge, Skill and Ability (KSA)– Knowledge and understanding of multiple dimensions of wellness, along with understanding and being to committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion; experience planning and coordinating events; strong time management and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in health or human services or a related field
3+ years’ experience in health, wellness, event planning or project management
Additional Information
*THE SELECTED CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $70,000 – $75,000. *

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
